The Month of Prevention of Illness in Children and Youth will be marked in Olhão during the month of April with a series of awareness raising actions aimed at reminding and collective responsibility for the prevention of ill-treatment.
Throughout the month, the Paços do Concelho building will be lit in blue, the color of the campaign that will be present throughout the county.
This month of prevention against child abuse has its peak on April 30, at 9:30 am, with the construction of a human blue tie in the Municipal Stadium of Olhão, with the participation of schools and IPSS of the county , with the aim of sensitizing the school community to the problem.
The "Blue Ribbon" campaign began in 1989 in the United States, when Bonnie W. Finney tied a blue ribbon to the antenna of her car as a way of paying tribute to her two grandchildren, both victims of evil -tratos.
Blue, which symbolizes the color of the lesions, would serve as a constant reminder for his struggle to protect children from violence and neglect.
"The story of this grandmother demonstrates the effect that the concern of a single citizen can have in awakening the public's conscience regarding the mistreatment of children, in their prevention and in the promotion and protection of their rights," says the local authority.
