Chinese tech companies Oppo and Xiaomi are developing smartphone models with a new technology that allows the front camera to be built into the screen. The two companies revealed small videos on Twitter where you can see, for a few seconds, the new functionality in action.
Oppo was the first to share the video, where you can see the camera integrated on the screen without any additional module or slot. Once the option is selected by the user, the front screen becomes the camera of the smartphone itself.
No further details are known about this new model, but according to AndroidCentral is likely to be released later this year.
A few hours later, it was Xiaomi's turn to highlight its built-in camera technology. Through a short video, the Chinese manufacturer compares its current model Mi 9 with another prototype of the Mi 9 without any slot for the camera, but still can film the room. Xiaomi's technology has already been patented, and there are rumors that it may be applied in the next model of its Mi Mix series.
