Associação Cultural Música XXI will organize the 11th edition of the Organ Festival of the Algarve, which runs through the counties of Faro, Portimão, Loulé and Tavira from 2 to 30 November with a total of 13 presentations.
The initiative includes concerts, pedagogical concert, student presentation and accompanied mass to the organ, carried out by six organists and several singers / instrumentalists.
The festival's kick-off concert takes place in Faro, with organist Margarida Oliveira and tenor Bruno Nogueira at Carmo Church.
This space will also receive a peculiar combination of organ and horn, respectively with Daniel Nunes and Edgar Barbosa.
In the Sé de Faro, Sérgio Silva and the Introitus Vocal Ensemble will present a program of Marian invocation, while the renowned Spanish organist Andrés Cea Galán will tour the German, Dutch and Iberian organ schools.
This church will also host other initiatives, such as a pedagogical concert with Inês Machado to the organ, the presentation of the work developed by the students of the recent School of Organ of the Cathedral of Faro and a Sunday Mass accompanied to the organ of tubes by these students and the Choir of Camera Vozart.
After the intense repair work, the restoration of the pipe organ of the Igreja Matriz in Portimão will be inaugurated, with the organist Margarida Oliveira and the participation of the Coral Adagio.
Also in this church, Daniel Nunes and Edgar Barbosa will present music from chamber to organ and horn.
The Mother Church of Boliqueime will host a vocal itinerary inspired by the artistic heritage of the church itself, played by Sérgio Silva and Ensemble Vocal Introitus. The second concert will be conducted by the organist Paulo Bernardino.
In Tavira, the musician, researcher and Spanish professor Andrés Cea Galán, with an intense international career, will sound the organ of the Church of Santiago. Paulo Bernardino will close the Festival of Organ of the Algarve, in the Church of the Misericordia.
The concerts take place at 9:30 pm and all events are free admission.
