Ott Tanak leads Chile rally at the end of the first day of competition


Estonian Ott Tanak (Toyota) completed the first day of the Chilean Rally on Friday, ahead of France's Sébastien Ogier (Citroen).

Tanak, who took command of the race in the second of six specials of the day, signed three fastest times during the day and completed the day with a 22.4 second lead for the six-time world champion, and 28.8 for the Finnish Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota), third.

The leader of the championship, with 10 points ahead of Tanak, Belgian Thierry Neuville (Hyundai), closed the day in fourth place, to 29.5 seconds.

The rally will continue today, with two sections of three special stages scheduled for a total of 121.16 kilometers timed.
