A 19-year-old male Portuguese skydiver died today when he was making a leap from an aircraft that had taken off from Portimão Aerodrome, a source from the Faro District Relief Operations Command (CDOS) told Agência Lusa, cited by SIC.
The warning was given to the relief teams at 10:13 am, and 10 local workers supported by 4 vehicles were committed to the scene, including members of the Portimão Fire Department, INEM and the Republican National Guard (GNR).
"It was a fall from a parachutist who killed a 19-year-old male Portuguese Portuguese national," the source said, adding that the victim fell within the perimeter of the Portimão Aerodrome.
About the reason for the apparent crash, the CDOS source said only that it was a "vertical crash", underlining that the causes will now be investigated by the authorities through the Aircraft and Rail Accident Prevention and Investigation Office (GPIAAF). .
