Penelense will not compete in the Futsal Honor Division of the Football Association of Coimbra (AFC). The withdrawal, advanced yesterday by the blog “Futsal in Coimbra”, was confirmed to DIÁRIO AS BEIRAS by the president of Penelense, Carlos Júlio.
“The withdrawal is confirmed. Athletes refuse to play because of the pandemic and the situation of covid-19 in the county and in the country ”, said the leader who also stressed that“ the players have every legitimacy to make this decision because they are amateur athletes, they do not receive nothing".
The Penelense futsal team, which was advancing to the second season in the AFC competition and which would be led by Vasco Almeida, yesterday announced the decision to the club's management. “The group announced today (yesterday) this decision in a meeting with the management. We have already informed AFC of the withdrawal ”, revealed Carlos Júlio. In the future, “Penelense intends to have futsal again”, added the president of Penela's formation.
