Phoenix Suns dismiss first born coach in Europe in NBA history

The Serbian Igor Kokoskov, the first born coach in Europe in the history of the American Basketball League (NBA), was fired on Monday from the Phoenix Suns technical command he had taken over last May.

"After deep thought, I decided it would be good to go in a different direction and change coaches," said Phoenix Suns director James Jones, who thanked Igor Kokoskov for "all the work he has done with the team" and wished him "The greatest happiness for the future".

Kokoskov, who won US citizenship in 2010, took command of the Phoenix Suns following the departure of interim coach Jay Triano, who led the team after Earl Watson was sacked early in the season.

The Phoenix Suns finished the NBA regular in last place in the Western Conference with 19 wins and 63 losses, with the second worst record of the event, just behind the New York Knicks, who in the East, had 17 wins and 65 defeats.
