The exhibition "Artur Pastor and the Southern Worlds" will host on Saturday, 14, at 11:30 hours, another guided tour, this time under the guidance of photojournalist Luís Ramos.
The initiative is aimed at adults and young people and does not require registration.
Luís Ramos was born in Lisbon and studied photography at AR.CO. He made his professional career in the Portuguese reference press, namely the Expresso and Público newspapers, of which he was a founder, reporter and photo editor. He is currently an independent photographer.
Artur Pastor was one of the great Portuguese photographers of the twentieth century. He began his photography activity in Tavira, at the age of 23, while serving in the military, capturing images of tuna fishing knockers.
In addition to the quality and recognition of the national importance of his work, the reason for this exhibition in Tavira is reinforced and justified by this initial journey.
Artur Pastor produced a unique, high quality, vast and complete body of images on agriculture in Portugal in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. He also photographed fishing-related activities on the Algarve coast, Nazaré, Sesimbra and Apulia between 1942 and 1970
He published the books «Nazaré» in 1958 and «Algarve» in 1965, both with their own images and texts. He has held several exhibitions and collaborated with numerous national and foreign magazines and publications.
