The canons of the Physicians and Nurses' Orders defend the Government's adoption of improvements in the health sector.
Commenting on the government's announced remodeling, which includes replacing former Health Minister Adalberto Campos Fernandes by Marta Temido, the canon of the Medical Order, Miguel Guimarães, told RTP3 today that "it is necessary to have more respect for professionals in the sector, for the guardianship, by the Government ".
Miguel Guimarães admitted that with the former Health Minister, the doctors did not feel respected and admitted that "Dr. Marta Temido has little time until the end of the mandate to do her job".
In addition to the question of the paradigm shift and the focus on human capital, the President of the Medical Association also advocated that "we should have a more adequate organization and reform the hospital organization, referring to the need for investments in current and future hospitals, such as the Hospital Vila Nova de Gaia, Alentejo Central Hospital, Faro Hospital, the new Hospital in Lisbon and the new hospital for Madeira.
In turn, Ana Rita Cavaco, a staff member of the Nurses' Order, also in statements to RTP3, admitted, "since June there was a good understanding and a serious negotiation" with the former head of the Health portfolio, and defended the which is now based in quantitative terms on the number of clinical acts but which, in its view, should be based on a qualitative analysis.
