Benfica player Pizzi tested positive for the new coronavirus, as did director-general Tiago Pinto, and will miss the Super Cup game Cândido de Oliveira against FC Porto, the club announced today.
"The player Pizzi and the director general Tiago Pinto tested positive for the new coronavirus and have already left the place where the squad is training on the eve of the Super Cup in Ílhavo, having returned to Lisbon", says Benfica in a statement.
According to the club, the two cases were detected in the most recent diagnostic tests for the new coronavirus, which causes the covid-19 disease, with the midfielder being the right low for Wednesday's match.
Director-General Tiago Pinto was preparing to serve the last few days at Benfica's service, since he already has an agreement to assume functions in the Italians of Rome from January 2021.
FC Porto, champion and winner of the Portuguese Cup, and Benfica, defeated finalist of the Portuguese Cup, compete on Wednesday for the Portuguese football Super Cup in Aveiro.
