The Algarve team duo Vito Skoda, Ricardo Teodósio and José Teixeira achieved the second podium in two races at the Portugal Rally Championship, which returned to action this weekend at the Castelo Branco Rally, maintaining confidence in the title revalidation after guaranteeing the third place in the albicastrense race.
Ricardo Teodósio and José Teixeira have a connection to the capital of Beira Baixa, as it was precisely in Castelo Branco that the Algarve pair won their first absolute victory in the 2018 Portuguese Rally Championship.
The national champions in title bet on repeating that performance on the return of the CPR, after a stop of more than four months due to the world pandemic of Covid-19, however, a wrong choice of tires on Saturday led Ricardo Teodósio to give up important time in the first day of the rally, still managing to repeat the podium (3rd place) obtained at the Rally Serras de Fafe and Felgueiras, the first race of the season.
“It was a frustrating rally, because we made the wrong choice of tires on Saturday and that took away my confidence in the car. For me to be able to walk on the limit, I need absolute confidence, so third place ends up being important for the points we accumulated, since we were unable to discuss the victory as we wanted. We will now analyze this rally and prepare well for the race in Madeira ”, said Ricardo Teodósio, who also praised the civic spirit that prevailed in an event where Team Vito Skoda delivered a lot of Personal protective equipment to the Castelo Branco Volunteer Firefighters.
The Portuguese Rally Championship now heads to the Pearl of the Atlantic for the Madeira Wine Rally, the third race of the season, to be played from 6 to 8 August.
