The next two weekends in the European City of Sports 2019 will attract thousands of spectators to the riverside area of ​​Portimão, for an authentic Aquatic Festival that integrates the Aquabike World Championship and the Motonautics Formula 1 World Championship. of them the official launch event of Algarve Chefs Week.

On May 11, from 6:00 p.m., and for the first time in Portimão, the kick-off for the Algarve Chefs Week will take place in the riverside area, next to the old lot, with the participation of 14 'chefs' restaurants of the best luxury hotels in the Algarve. For the value of 10 euros visitors will have the opportunity to taste several delicacies, in a preview of what they can find in each of the hotels that will be present in this initiative.

The 9th edition of the event takes place between 13 and 19 May and proposes a trip "À Raiz do Sabor", through the most authentic products and traditions of the Algerian heritage and gastronomic wealth. The signature menu, specially created for this purpose, "will present the best traditional flavors with the touch of creativity and innovation of renowned chefs of the region", says the autarchy.

From May 10 to 12, Portimão will host for the first time the Portuguese Grand Prix at Aquabike, a Pro Circuit world race. Dozens of water scooter riders from various countries will be in the race, some of whom are national champions. in test on the 10th, between 15h30 and 18h00.

On the 11th, the competitions will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and one of the highlights of this year will be the night competition from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., which will unfold in front of the picturesque scenery of the old wharf and loa of Portimão, where the event will take place of the Algarve Chefs Week. On Sunday, December 12, everything will be decided between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., with the prize giving ceremony scheduled for after 6:00 p.m.

Another incentive for spectators will be the fact that the paddock is open to visitors, which will allow a closer knowledge of machines, mechanics and pilots. In turn, children between the ages of 3 and 9 will be able to drive a mini jetski.

The Portuguese Motonautics Grand Prix is ​​back from 17 to 19 May to the natural amphitheater of the Arade River, for another race decided until the last lap by the best drivers of the international circuit, who decide here the podium of one of the most mediatic stages of the Formula 1 World Championship.

Rashed Al Qemzio, Alex Carella, Philippe Chiappe, Francesco Cantando, Sami Selio, or the brave Marit Stromoy and Simone Schuft, are some of the gifted riders who will stir the waters of the Arade River, always with the ambitious Duarte Benavente in search of the first victory homemade.

On the 18th, the first round of the Portuguese Grand Prix of F4 in Motonáutica will run between 13:55 and 14:15, while on Sunday, May 19, the program starts at 14:40 with the second round of the Portuguese Grand Prix of F4 in Motonáutica. As for the high moment of the day, the lap of presentation of the F1 GP of Portugal in Motonáutica starts at 15.20, with the starting shot scheduled for 3.30 p.m., with an estimated finish of the race about an hour later. The trophy delivery ceremonies will take place at 4:40 p.m.

Additional attraction for visitors to Portimão and the riverside area on Saturday, May 18, will be the free visit to the Portimão Museum, which celebrates its 11th anniversary on that date, and a special program has been prepared that includes the 19th Photographic Race of Portimão and the inauguration of the exhibitions "From my street I still see the Algarve?", with photos of Filipe da Palma, and "Reencontro", on Hein Semke tiles.
