Portimonense qualified this Sunday, for the first time in their history, to the Futsal League Cup, when they finished the first round of the Placard League among the eight best teams.
The Portimão team drew in Fundão (2-2), in a match from the 15th round of the main level, and secured 8th place in the table (22 points) – the last wave of access to the race organized by the Portuguese Federation of Soccer.
Sporting, Benfica, Modicus, Viseu 2001, Eléctrico FC, AD Fundão and Leões de Porto Salvo make up the lot of teams that will dispute the trophy.
The Futsal League Cup includes games to be eliminated until the grand final, with the edition of this season held at the end of March (days 25 to 28), in a place yet to be defined.
This is “another unprecedented feat among Algarve formations”, as highlighted in a statement by the Algarve Football Association, which congratulated the governing bodies, staff, coaches, athletes and other sports agents of the Portimão emblem for “writing more a page of glory, thus continuing to dignify Algarve futsal ”.
