Portimonense scored today the second consecutive defeat in the 1st League of football, losing at home with Sporting (0-2), in a game of the third round of the competition that approached in a bad way, with an entry that left everything to lose.
The coach of the Algarve, Paulo Sérgio, had warned his players that it was time to wake up, but the alert had no effect: Portimonense went “asleep” and, in a few minutes, the “lions” added the two goals of the match, by Nuno Mendes (4 minutes) and Nuno Santos (11).
Portimonense still tried to react, namely in the start of the second half, but it rarely bothered Antonio Adán, who was only forced to act in the game's discounts, in a good defense the shot by Ricardo Vaz Tê (90 + 4).
The Algarve team went down to 16th place, with only one point. On the next day, the alvinegros go to the Marítimo's enclosure.
