Portugal lose with Romania women's final of European table tennis teams


THE women's portuguese team in table tennis lost today the final of the European of teams, which takes place in Nantes, France, when defeated by the champion in title Romania by 3-0.

Bernadette Szocs outperformed Jieni Shao by 3-2 (11-7, 8-11, 6-11, 11-7 and 11-6), Daniel Dodean Monteiro hit Fu yu also 3-2 (7-11, 11-8, 11-9, 6-11 and 11-3) and Elizabeta Samara won the Leila Oliveira by 3-0 (11-9, 11-7 and 11-6).

The Romanian women added the fifth scepter, after winning in 1992, 2002, 2005 and 2017, while Portugal, taking the silver, got its best classification ever, since it had never even reached the semi-finals.

In men, Portugal, champion in 2014, runner-up in 2017 and third in 2011, is still in the final today against Germany, who is the scepter holder and is seeking the eighth title.
