Portugal with very high risk of exposure to UV radiation - Current

The IPMA also posed a high risk of UV exposure to Terceira island (central group of the Azores) and São Miguel (eastern group of the Azores).

The islands of Faial (central group) and Flores (western group) today have low levels of exposure to UV radiation.

For regions with very high and high risk, the IPMA recommends the use of sunglasses with UV filter, hat, t-shirt, parasol, sunscreen and to prevent children from sun exposure.

The ultraviolet index ranges from 1 to 2, where the risk of exposure to UV radiation is low, 3 to 5 (moderate), 6 to 7 (high), 8 to 10 (very high), and greater than 11 (extreme).

The calculation is based on the observed values at 1:00 p.m. each day relative to the air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours.
