The name of Marisa Benjamim appears in a list, released today by the organization of 32 new confirmations for the poster of the festival, which takes place in summer in the Danish city that gives it its name. The Portuguese artist will be in Roskilde under the arts and debates program.
"At the Roskilde festival it will be possible to taste the 'detox' drink of flowers by Marisa Benjamim, served in a pedal laboratory. The lab explores tastes and social interactions and draws attention to the food and beverage of the future. One day we will all live with flowers, herbs and berries? ", Says the organization on the festival's official website.
In the laboratory of flavors, which will circulate around the premises, it will be possible to "quench thirst and hangover with the drink 'detox' Eau Florale". According to the organization, this drink is made of "mineral water and an extraction of herbs and seasonal flowers, such as chive flowers".
Eau Florale was part of the sensorial exhibition "A Laboratory for the Deceleration of the Body and for a New Politics of the Senses", which was shown at the International Biennial of Contemporary Art in Riga 2018.
Marisa Benjamim, currently living in Berlin, "uses flowers as a raw material and a starting point for her 'Flauristaurant' performances and installations."
Born in Portugal in 1981, Marisa Benjamim holds a degree in Fine Arts from the Superior School of Design Arts (ESAD) in Caldas da Rainha, and has a master's degree from the University of the Arts in Berlin.
The Portuguese artist has been exhibiting solo since 2011, having shown her work in Germany and Spain. In group exhibitions, the work of Maria Benjamim has also been shown in countries such as the United States, Poland and Italy.
The Roskilde Festival, held annually since 1971, has already confirmed for this year's edition, among others, Bob Dylan, The Cure, Travis Scott, Cypress Hill, Rosalia, Underworld and Spiritualized.
This year's edition runs between June 29 and July 6.
The Moonspell were the first Portuguese to perform at the festival in 1998. Meanwhile, the festival in Denmark received the Buraka Som Sistema in 2007, the Throes + The Shine in 2013 and the Pedro Coquenão Batida project in 2015. The artist Miguel Januário, with the ± másmenos ± project, was the first Portuguese to participate in the arts and debates program of the festival, in last year's edition.
