The best national clubs compete in Portimão Arena the 70th edition of the Portuguese Cup in Basketball, between 14 and 17 May. Assured is a top-class sporting spectacle.
It is a final eight to the competition, dating back to the 1943/1944 season. The dispute opens with the Azorean derby between Lusitania and Third Basket, the first of the qualifying games for the semi-finals. Then they face SL Benfica, which already has 22 cups, and FC Porto, winner of the competition for 13 times.
Before the draw, the competition director of the Portuguese Basketball Federation, José Pinto Alberto, expressed the desire that the Portimão Arena "to be filled in all the games with people to vibrate, since the Cup of Portugal has everything to be a great promotional poster for the modality among the young people of the region ". This desire was outlined by the president of the Algarve Basketball Association, Eduardo Cruz, who made it a point to underline "the magnificent capabilities of Portimão to host events of this magnitude".
Tickets for the qualifying games and semi-finals cost 3 euros, while entry into the final will cost 5 euros, and it is possible to purchase a 10 euros pass, which allows access to all games.
