From this Friday, May 3, Portuguese abroad will be able to apply for job offers in Portugal, through the website of the Institute of Employment and Professional Training (IEFP). The news was announced on Thursday by Miguel Cabrita, Secretary of State for Employment.
According to the government's official communiqué, there are currently 17,000 places available on the IEFP portal. From now on, immigrants will be able to "register on the site and apply", by simply having Citizen Card. The measure is part of the Regressar program, approved by the Government, which includes several incentives to encourage the return of migrants.
The Minister of Economy had already announced in Parliament that he intended to advertise abroad job offers in Portugal, considering that the lack of labor is one of the main problems of companies. "The lack of labor is the main concern of entrepreneurs in all regions and in almost all sectors," said Siza Vieira at the hearing on the Economics Committee on April 24, adding that to address these shortcomings, the Government I was working to get more workers out there. "The idea is to get job offers abroad," the minister told Lusa.
