The harvests started earlier and will naturally end sooner, but none of this interferes with the quality of the Wines of the Algarve, since according to the president of the CVA – Algarve Wine Commission, Sara Silva, in an exclusive interview with diariOnline South Region newspaper, said that "Producers have a very strong focus on quality …".
Sara Silva said that the quantity produced this year will be similar to that of last year, close to 1 million and 200 thousand liters. There are more new producers and others have seen their production area increased but it is a reflection that will only be seen later.
The CVA president revealed that taking into account the pandemic and the new normal, the usual Contest was canceled and, on the other hand, the Commission readjusted itself and opted for other promotion strategies, especially using the internet.
As for the future, Sara Silva is convinced that wine-growing in the Algarve region “It is healthy, it is interesting, producers increasingly want to plant more… the region is growing in a sustainable way…”.
In short, the Wines of the Algarve are doing well and are recommended.
