September is the month of rentrée for the Cine-Teatro Louletano with several absolutely outstanding and unique shows, thinking of the various audiences and thus continuing to bet on a differentiating and bold artistic program to the south.
The curtain rises to receive a big name from the national theater, the young but experienced actor Ivo Canelas, who brings us the acclaimed monologue “All the Wonderful Things”, on September 14, Saturday, at 9.30 pm, and at September 15, Sunday at 18h00 and 21h30. This is a humorous play by the British Duncan Macmillan, which premiered at the prestigious Fringe Festival in 2013 and has been performed in several countries. Despite the comic tone, this show speaks of serious themes: depression, existential crises, family and love are some of them.
September 18th is a day of internationalization, as a musician considered by the public and critics takes to the stage “one of the new revelations of new Brazilian music”. We refer to Tim Bernardes, musician, composer, music producer and multi-instrumentalist. Tim has worked with names like Tom Zé and David Byrne, among others. With his band, "The Suit", has three albums and an EP released, all with compositions of his own. She made her solo debut in September 2017 with "Recomeçar", which was on the top lists of best albums of the year, and now brings to the Cine-Teatro Louletano in absolute premiere in the south of the country.
But September is also a month of programming for children and young people who will not only attend, but will also participate through the Loulé Children's Choir Group in the show “Songs of Roda, Lenga Lengas and Other Que Tais” with the prestigious singers Sérgio Godinho, Vitorino, Ana Cod and Jorge Benvinda, in a surprising foray into or inspired by our songbook and popular children's heritage (with new arrangements).
And there will be theater again on the 27th (Friday), this time with the João Garcia Miguel Company, in a return to the Cine-Teatro Louletano, bringing us “Medeia”, a piece of which is a very special guest: the excellent pianist Mario Laginha. A first idea that stands out from this piece is its relationship between the past and the future. This work maintains a timeliness and relevance that allows us to reflect on the decrease of symbolic power in the contemporary world. Euripides' text raises questions about the role of women in redefining the political and social fabric, as well as questions about the transformations of interpersonal relationships.
For the first time in the Cine-Teatro Louletano programming, there is a place for the “Russian Seasons” and the Festival of Classical and Contemporary Russian Art, whose program includes: a musical moment by Mikhail Shumov (cello), the musical performance of Russian novels in Oleg Pogudin (voice) and quintet, the photographic exhibition “The art of living” and the Russian buffet (traditional Russian table for festival visitors), all taking place on September 29, Sunday, with free admission.
Out of doors, in an effort to decentralize the cultural offer and programming to the interior of the county, will perform the Trisonante Ensemble, in Querença, at the Manuel Viegas Guerreiro Foundation, on September 28, Saturday, at 18h00. There are three prestigious musicians from Vienna (Austria) who bring the essence of chamber music to the concert halls through one of the most classical formations – the piano trio. Beethoven, Schubert and Shostakovich's trios – presented there – are works that, besides having an obvious stylistic individuality, represent the vast knowledge that the three composers reveal of the musical world and the times in which they were created.
The same day is rich in performances, as it takes place at 9.30 pm at the Solar da Música Nova Auditorium the worldwide release of the first album of a charismatic and unique band, Plasticine, made up of musicians from all over the Algarve, from leeward to windward. , and with a composition that they call "plastic" and "moldable".
And in the morning, an extension of FOMe – Festival of Objects and Puppets & Other Eating, from 11h00 to 12h00, in the Cloister of the Convent of Espírito Santo. Aimed at kids and adults, from 8 to 88 years old, there will be the presentation of the show “Miscelânea”, by the Faro Manipulators Club, founded a year ago, in the previous edition of the festival, by a group of enthusiasts that continues willing to learn and play with objects, puppets and manipulation. “Miscellaneous” brings us an offer of mini shows, installations and surprises. And in the context of the same Festival, Turkey's Cengiz Ozek Company presents in the same Convent Auditorium, “Garbage Monster”.
Finally, a highlight also for RHI (Revolution_Hope_Imagination), an initiative of New York-based ArteInstitute, which aims to accelerate a new dialogue between art, culture and business through talks, workshops and multidisciplinary shows, which It will close on September 21st precisely in Loulé bringing south international programmers and other professionals, and creating space in Loulé for the presentation and enhancement / promotion of artistic projects based in the Algarve through various showcases.
September is thus a very eclectic month, with a different cultural offer and aimed at different audiences.
