The list of Socialist candidates for the European Parliament, which is headed by former Minister Pedro Marques, was today approved by a large majority in a meeting of the National Political Commission of the PS, the source said.
Proposed by the general secretary of the PS, António Costa, the list of socialist candidates obtained 68 votes in favor, nine against (coming from the minority tendency of Daniel Adrião) and three abstentions.
After Pedro Marques, the former Minister Maria Manuel Leitão Marques, MEP Pedro Silva Pereira and former Secretary of State for European Affairs, Margarida Marques, are among the top places on the list.
Among the fifth and eighth places, positions that are considered eligible are André Bradford (Azores), Sara Cerdas (Madeira), MEP Carlos Zorrinho and Ms. Isabel Santos.
In terms of exits, the most relevant to the one of the former MEP Maria João Rodrigues, who is currently facing a process of labor harassment in Brussels.
On the 9th, the PS meets in the National Commission, the highest body among congresses, to approve the electoral manifesto of the PS.
