The PSD today asked the government for explanations of the EUR 30 billion transferred to tax havens over the last three years and admitted calling the finance minister to parliament even on parliamentary holidays.
"When it was noticed that 10 billion euros were transferred it was almost national scandal and the parties that supported this Government were outraged by this amount. But when the money triples the silence is deafening, "Duarte Pacheco told Lusa.
The Economic News reported today that in the last three years the value of offshore amounted to 30 billion euros, the result of the sum of 2018 (8,950 million euros), 2017 (10,648 million euros) and 2016 (10,400 million euros) € 18 billion), which compares with € 18 billion between 2013 and 2015.
According to Duarte Pacheco, the PSD today sent a question asking the Government to explain the reasons for the increase in transfers (66% compared to the 2016-2018 triennium compared to 2013-2015), the number of operations and the tax treatment these transfers.
In 2017, it was very controversial to report that between 2011 and 2014, almost 10 billion euros were transferred to offshore tax havens without tax treatment, and since then the Tax Authority has been obliged to publish statistics on these transfers.
This publication comes three months after the banks send the information to them, which happens until the end of March.
