The PSD / Algarve today welcomed the approval of the proposal that establishes a maximum of 40 euros for the cost of the regional public transport passes presented by its representatives in the Intermunicipal Community of Algarve (AMAL).
"No Algerian from Alcoutim to Aljezur will pay more than 40 euros for a public transport pass, which eliminates the discrimination that resulted from preliminary proposals presented at AMAL that would distinguish us from Lisbon and Porto, allowing some intercity passes amount to close to 100 euros. Thus, the Algarve are equal among themselves and are not treated differently from Lisbon or Porto, "said the party's political committee.
The AMAL intercity council, composed of the 16 mayors, approved at the meeting in Loulé Thursday the reduction of costs of road and rail passes in the region, whose prices will vary between 14 and 40 euros, representing in some reduction of 80%.
"It's a good day for the region. The consensus was positive and it was removed what would be an injustice ", stresses the PSD, noting, however, that the public transport network" is very incipient ".
Defending the extension of the network as "decisive", as well as its intermodality, the Social Democrat calls for measures "to mitigate the difficulties of mobility in the region in the field of road and rail".
"We hope that by the end of the legislature the commitments entered into with the Algarve by the government will be fulfilled, which unfortunately has not happened so far. If this is not the case, it will not be worth having a certain policy without the means to execute it, and the more than a thousand train suppressions in 2018 are the proof of that, "concludes the PSD / Algarve.
