The data of the Portuguese Municipal Rating, a study carried out by the Order of Economists, placed the municipality of Castro Marim in the 1st place of the national ranking of Municipal Governance for the year 2018.
The Portuguese Municipal Rating takes into account criteria such as inclusion, safety and sustainability, in addition to municipal governance, service to citizens, economic and social development and financial sustainability.
In the Algarve region, the best municipalities are Lagoa, Faro and Loulé. The worst municipalities are Aljezur, Monchique and Albufeira.
Another prominent position of Castro Marim was in relation to the service provided to the citizens, occupying the 14th position of the national ranking and being the best municipality of Algarve in this item.
In the area of Economic and Social Development, Faro is the best municipality in the Algarve and 17th in national terms.
Regarding Financial Sustainability, the highlight goes to the Lagoa chamber, ranked 7th in the country.
