The Spanish international footballer José Antonio Reyes, who represented Benfica, died today at the age of 35, a victim of a road accident, informed the Sevilla, club in which the advanced one began the race.
"We could not have worse news. Our dear José Antonio Reyes died in a car accident. Rest in peace, "says a short note published in Official Twitter of Sevilla, club of the Spanish League, in which it aligns the Portuguese international defender Daniel Carriço.
The accident that struck the Spanish player occurred at 11:40 (10:40 in Lisbon), on a motorway between Seville and Utrera, where he was born, the car in which he was traveling suffered a scuffle, and then burned, according to EFE.
Reyes, who played this season in Extremadura of the Spanish second division, played in Benfica in the 2008/09 season, on loan from Atletico Madrid, having played 35 games and scored six goals for the Lisbon team, for which he won the UEFA Cup Liga, achieving a goal in the final, against Sporting.
The striker, who has 21 caps for Spain in which he has scored four goals, has won the European League five times and won a European Super Cup. He has also played in Arsenal, for which he won the English Cup and won a Cup of England.
