Ricardo Melo Gouveia and Tomás Santos Silva won the individual and team classifications, respectively, at the PGA Summer Pro-Am, whose 1st edition PGA de Portugal and Greatgolf organized at the Salgados Golf Course, of the Nau Group, in Albufeira.
“I played quite well, I didn't miss a shot and the big difference was that I put in a lot more putts. Lately I've been making results between 3 and 5 below the "par", but I still needed to put some more "putts" to make a round like this ", said the Algarve Ricardo Melo Gouveia, after winning the individual tournament with an excellent lap of 64 strokes, 8 below the "pair".
Melo Gouveia has not competed since he had achieved his best result of the season, a 36th position, in the Euram Bank Open, of the European Tour, in Austria, with an aggregate of 2 strokes below the «par».
At that time, in July, the 29-year-old was still playing with Srixon clubs. Now, he debuted in competition with a complete new equipment from Titleist and he may only have liked the sensations, given the excellent result.
“I felt very comfortable with the new clubs. I am already well adapted and it was a very easy adaptation ”, he added, in this that was a preparation tournament for the series of three tournaments of the European Tour in which he will participate in September: the Estrella Damm NA Andalucía Masters in Valderrama (for which he has an invitation), the Portugal Masters at the Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course in Vilamoura (also by invitation) and the Open de Portugal at Royal Óbidos (with direct entry).
The PGA Summer Pro-Am had 21 professional players and 63 amateurs (sold out) and the 2nd place in the individual classification was shared by Tomás Bessa and António Sobrinho, with 67 strokes (-5).
The Algarvian Ricardo Santos, the great figure of the race, for being the best Portuguese in the world “ranking” and member of the European Tour, concluded his performance in 8th place with 71 (-1), tied with Isabella Deilert, a professional Sweden that this year has competed in the Ladies European Tour, the first European division.
In the collective classification the title went to Tomás Silva, the national champion of 2018 and 2019, associated with amateurs Ricardo Pereira, Rui Coelho and Lourenço Mestre, with 87 points.
