Self-service laundries are required to pass invoice - The Economic Journal


Customers of automated laundries can demand an invoice and, if they do, companies are obliged to proceed with their issuance, the October 8 edition of the "Jornal de Negócios" reveals. The question was put to the Finance by a company of the sector and the Treasury has no doubts: the companies that work in this area, are "obliged to issue an invoice for each service rendered.

By 2015, billing rules have changed and the billing requirement has become generalized, even as taxpayers use them for IRS purposes and to benefit from deductions dependent on having an invoice in the NIF, specific rules have been created for services of a mass nature, intended for private individuals.

In this way, the VAT code defines that in some operations the issuance of invoices is not mandatory, but it enumerates the cases in which this occurs. These are the cases of the provision of parking services, tolls and spectacle tickets provided that a ticket is issued or the transmission of goods effected by means of automatic dispensing devices which do not permit the issue of an invoice, in the case of vending machines drinks or food.
