"The Importance of Volunteering in the Community" is the theme of the seminar to be held at the Municipal Library António Ramos Rosa, in Faro, on 5 December, to mark International Volunteer Day.
This event is part of the "Histórias Contadas Sorrisos Partilhados" project, an initiative of the Municipality of Faro and the Health Platform in Dialogue that, since March 2018, has been promoting a set of activities with the contribution of volunteers, directed to the third aging and promoting active aging.
The seminar emerges as a way of presenting to the community the dynamics that the project intends to create both at the volunteer level and at the level of the healthy occupation of leisure time and the well-being of the elderly.
Organized in a joint action between the Municipality of Faro, the Health Platform in Dialogue and CENIE, the initiative will have the sharing of examples of good practices of the UALg V +, the IPDJ, the Food Bank and the Portuguese League Against Cancer, in the panel in the morning.
In the afternoon, in addition to the presentation of the project "Stories Counted Shared Smiles", contributions are expected from the Volunteer Confederation, the Yellow Heart Association and the Social Responsibility Department of Montepio to reflect on the theme "Communicating and motivating volunteers".
The seminar will end with the inauguration of the "Tell me Your Story" photography exhibition, organized by ALFA, which portrays the senior age through photos of five elderly participants in the project "Stories Counted Shared Smiles".
The seminar is free of charge and gives a certificate of attendance, requiring prior registration through the electronic address [email protected]
