Silves hosts Intertwined Dance Festival

The “Interlaced” Contemporary Dance Festival will return to Silves, on February 8th, where it will take place at the Mascarenhas Gregório Theater at 9:30 pm, with Carla Jordão's “A Universal Weakness”, by the Almada Dance Company (Ca .GIVES).

The initiative results from a partnership between the Dancenema Cultural Association and the Municipality of Silves. In this show, inspired by the smiling crowds of Yue Minjun's painting, choreographer Carla Jordão performs two dancers dancing for 40 minutes. They will have the same stamped facial expression on a trip that seeks to answer questions such as:

» What mood will emerge when smile on stage becomes the norm? When our smile
involuntary to find an arbitrary and culturally imposed smile?

»How do these emotional moments of stress and pressure – and presumably painful – under the
which face is kept physically expressed?

Tickets for this show cost 8 euros and are for sale online. People over 65 benefit from a special price of 6 euros. In this case tickets can only be purchased on the same day, on site, from 20h00.

The complete program of the festival can be consulted on the Dancenema website.
