Silves literacy promotion project for seniors, integrates BAD website


O "[email protected] DIGITAL ", by Silves, was one of the projects selected by the Portuguese Association of Librarians, Archivists and Documentaries (BAD) to integrate a Web Site, on the contribution of libraries to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda.

This is the Information Technology Project for Seniors, promoted by the Silves City Council, through the Municipal Library (BMS) and which began in 2018.

This initiative, which is aimed in particular at senior citizens, aims to combat the digital divide of older people by providing them with a teaching and learning process, digital literacy and information literacy skills. This allows trainees to acquire basic knowledge in word processing, e-mail and the internet, using their computer and the internet safely.

Among the 17 goals and 169 goals of the UN Agenda 2030, the PTIS project achieves the following goals:

– Quality education;
– Gender equality;
– reduce inequalities;
