Silves to “Produce and Consume Local” - Jornal diariOnline Southern Region


The “Produce and Consume Local” Campaign, promoted by In Loco Association in partnership with Silves City Council, will reach SB Messines Municipal Market on September 21. Along with the Earth Market, the initiative will seek to promote products to distinguish and make the region's agri-food producers accessible to consumers. In addition to public sale spaces, markets are encouraged by street actions to raise consumer awareness of local consumer issues, as well as exhibitions and food education.

In parallel, will be on display, in the parish garden, "A Balança", a piece designed by the artist António Quintas. It will be roaming through the municipalities of Loulé, Faro, São Brás de Alportel, Olhão, Tavira, Albufeira and Silves, until April 2020. The piece was generated in the perception that changes in current production and consumption patterns have high impacts
economic, environmental and social issues and it is urgent to change these dynamics. It intends to alert citizens to the impact of their consumption options, while awakening the importance of

With the motto “At the Table what grows near the door”, the campaign also materializes in the placement of posters in strategic places of public visibility in the partner municipalities, to provoke reflection on the importance of privileging local consumption, enhancing with This is the regional economy, ensuring greater control and confidence in the sustainability of products and contributing to the profitability of small producers.

The awareness campaign will run through roaming until April next year, but will not be the only product of the 100% Local project. This will also launch the application casefazem.pt where will be
