The new municipal regulations for the removal of abandoned or improper or abusive parking vehicles will enter into force on December 10, 2018.
This regulation emerges from the concern of the Municipality of Silves to safeguard the environment, urban balance and mobility through the discipline of parking vehicles on public roads and other public spaces, by establishing rules and procedures applicable to the removal and collection of vehicles abandoned or in situations of improper or abusive parking in the area of jurisdiction of the municipality.
In view of the increasing abandonment or improper or abusive parking of vehicles, thus causing difficulties for normal traffic and parking, and, at the same time, environmental damage with the degradation of vehicles in public places, so as to mitigate the effects of a phenomenon that is burdensome for a healthy environment in the urban environment, as well as for the full fruition and correct management of the municipal public space; this is because the abandonment of vehicles generates a reduction in the mobility of citizens, has a negative environmental impact in the city and absorbs public financial resources.
Thus, with the establishment of the rules contained in the new municipal regulation for the removal of abandoned vehicles or in situations of improper or abusive parking, it is sought to make the municipality, citizens and other competent authorities responsible, so that, with the collaboration of all, it is possible to ensure the full mobility and enjoyment of the public space, the availability of improperly or abusively occupied parking spaces, thus promoting an improvement in the quality of life in the urban environment and the protection of the environment, abandoned and unclaimed vehicles should be referred to a licensed decommissioning operator.
