The American group Snarky Puppy and the young British musician Jacob Collier will perform in July at the EDPCoolJazz festival in Cascais, the organization said today.
For both will be, at that time, a return to Portugal, for performances on the same day, July 16, in the Park Marechal Carmona, Cascais.
The Snarky Puppy are "a modernist jazz group that combines deep knowledge and respect for musical tradition with conceptual innovation," the festival said. With two dozen instrumentalists, three Grammy Award winners, the Snarky Puppy has a career decade and more than a dozen albums.
Jacob Collier, a 24-year-old multi-instrumentalist from London, has released his second album, Djesse, this year and has collaborated with the Snarky Puppy.
Even before joining CoolJazz, Jacob Collier will play in his own name, in a debut, in Portugal on January 29, at the Teatro Capitólio, in Lisbon, practically exhausted.
It will be the start of the 2019 tour and on stage the musician will be accompanied by a band with Christian Euman, Rob Mullarkey and the Portuguese Maro.
The 16th edition of EDPCoolJazz will take place during the month of July in Cascais and will feature Diana Krall, Tom Jones and Jamie Cullum.
