Soflusa, a river transport company between Barreiro and Lisbon, admitted today that there will be disturbances in the service next Thursday and Friday due to the strike of the masters of the company.
On its website, Soflusa reported that, in these two days, transportation from Barreiro, in the district of Setúbal, will only be assured between 00:05 and 01:30 at 05:05, between 09: 30 and 17:45 and from 10:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Already from the Terreiro do Paço, in Lisbon, bound for Barreiro, only the river links will be available between 00:00 and 02:00, at 05:30, between 10:00 and 18:00 and 21:55 to 23:30.
According to the note, during periods of service disruption, "the river terminals are closed for security reasons".
Soflusa masters, who are already striking overtime due to lack of professionals, have decided to take the movement further and stop three hours per shift, on Thursday and Friday, according to Carlos Costa of Fectrans – Federação Transport and Communications Unions.
According to the official, only 21 masters in Soflusa work (of which three are sick), but 24 are needed, as well as a greater "saturation" of the class, after the company introduced a new scale of services , in April, with the implementation of the Navegante pass.
On May 10, the river links between Barreiro and Lisbon began to be suppressed by the lack of masters, which led the company to announce, four days later, not being able to predict when it would restore the service.
On that occasion, Soflusa advanced, in a written response to Lusa, that it opened a competition for the vacancies of masters and "awaits, at any moment, the authorization to hire more workers".
