The Sound Riscado – Music and Image Festival of Loulé returns from April 11 to 14 with a poster that consolidates the concept and main programmatic lines of this unique event and with two great innovations regarding previous editions: a strong community involvement school in the region and an unequivocal bet on the formative aspect in this which is its 4th edition.

The presentation of concerts, performances, interactive installations and debates is maintained, as well as the uniqueness that characterizes this unique festival to the south: the crossroads and creative dialogues between experimental music and the image and visual arts universes, but also exploratory approaches to sound art.

In order to ensure a strong participation of students and teachers of the Municipality of Loulé and the Algarve region, there are, prior to the festival itself, artistic mediation actions consisting of performative conversations in public and private partner schools in the region. the musician Vítor Rua – one of the key figures and iconic of the Portuguese creative music – and the recognized director and composer André Tentugal, between the 1st and 5th of April.

On 11, official start day, there is room for the "Council (scratched) of the Gods", which includes a solo violin performance by Carlos Zíngaro – another Portuguese improvised dinosaur – and an informal conversation between Vítor Rua, André Tentugal, Carlos Zíngaro, Lixoluxopótico and Noiserv, in the Hermitage of Our Lady of the Conception (in front of the Municipal Museum of Loulé). Admission is free (stocking is limited) and the initiative starts at 9:00 p.m.

The inaugural show of the festival is in charge of the Radar 360º, cultural association (Porto), which brings to Loulé "Manipula # Som" a visual concert of circus character. The artistic language of the project is born of the dialogue between the manipulation of objects and the interactive music. "Objects are transformed and recreated around us. Our bodies relate to them and play … All this is heard and composed! ", The artists say. "Manipula # Sound" thus happens on April 12 in two formats; at 10:00 a.m., in a register essentially aimed at children and young people from holiday groups of the Loule Autarchy and followed by a workshop; and at 9.30 pm for the general public, followed by a conversation with the artists. Advised for children over five, the evening show is specially designed for families, lasts for 50 minutes and an associated price per person of 7 euros (with applicable Amigo Card).

Concerning performances, "Há: Som Directa", the following proposal, on April 12, at 2:00 p.m., at the former headquarters of Atletico (Rua 5 de Outubro, 35 – common street of the stores) and that also takes place to 13 (17h00) and to 14 of April (16h30). From the original João Ricardo de Barros Oliveira (lixoluxopótico), and in absolute debut to the South, the performance centers on an alchemist who is cooking a strange soup in the laboratory. The recipe does not include "ingredients, normal like Rock'n Roll Pickles, Hip Hop Tomatoes or Techno Potatoes. Its base ingredients are combinations of instruments – MALcriadas, defective and untangled sound sculptures, objects, gently spiced to bring to the top its rich sonorous aroma. "It is intended for children over 6 years old (especially recommended for families) and has the approximate duration of 40 minutes, with free entrance.

Multidisciplinary concerts / shows

The nights of Sound Riscado will be fulfilled by the concerts of Chassol with "Big Sun" and Vítor Rua & The Metaphysical Angels with "Androids Dream of Electric Guitars?", Being added, in the last day of the festival, at the end of the afternoon, the spectacle of Noiserv with Luís da Cruz, a Loulean photographer, an artistic order of this 4th edition.

Pianist, songwriter, arranger and musical director of names like Phoenix or Sebastien Tellier, the charismatic and talented Christophe Chassol has signed an art piece that challenges the classifications. In "Big Sun", a discographic work that will present in this fourth edition of Som Riscado, on the 13th, at 9.30 pm, Chassol brings compositions that articulate voices, music, sounds and images into new audiovisual objects. This absolute debut in the South of the country takes place at Cine-Teatro Louletano, with a ticket costing 7 euros per person, with an applicable Amigo Card.

Vítor Rua, co-founder of the GNR in the dawn of the 1980s, or from 1982, along with Jorge Lima Barreto, of the Telectu, a duo that became, over three decades, a reference of the most experimental music, has a prolific activity , between solo projects, music for other areas, approaching the most diverse typologies with new interpretive or compositional solutions. To Sound Riscado brings us, in South debut, the concert of its most recent and acclaimed album: "Androids Dream of Electric Guitars?" With The Metaphysical Angels, where its instrument of predilection – the guitar – is in the center of the a concert with a strong visual dimension. This will also take place on the evening of April 13 at 11:30 p.m., in the Solar da Música Nova Auditorium. The entrance has an associated cost per person of 5 euros, without applicable discounts.

At the same venue, but on Sunday, at 6:00 p.m., closing the festival, there is room for the challenge launched by the organization to the musician Noiserv and the photographer Luís da Cruz for an unprecedented concert installation, in an artistic order, in which the sonorities experimental and ingenious images of David Santos creatively joins the photographer's images in an unconventional scenic device. This will be followed by conversation with the public, it is advisable for people over six years of age and has the approximate duration of 60 minutes, with an associated cost per person of 5 euros (without applicable discounts).

Training for professionals and students

As far as the already mentioned training component is concerned, three masterclasses are planned in different formats. Vítor Rua will be responsible for the masterclass on "new approaches to Sound and Music", to be held on Thursday, 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., in the Auditorium of the Secondary School of Loulé, in a total of six hours, essentially aimed at students / school public.

The masterclass on "image for musical contents" will be taught by André Tentugal, in the same Auditorium, also from 10h00 to 13h00 and from 02h30 to 17h30, for a total of six hours, but on April 12, Friday.

On Saturday, the training will be repeated in the same place, but in more condensed / adapted sessions of only three hours each, being these mainly intended for professionals of the area and other interested parties.

On Sunday, April 14, Chassol will promote a masterclass on audiovisual objects and around its creative processes, at Cine-Teatro Louletano, which will run from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Without exception, all courses require prior registration, are limited to a maximum of 50 people and have a associated cost per person of 20 euros (6 hours) and 10 euros (3 hours).

During the festival there will be the "Noiserv in your hands" installation, in the foyer of Cine-Teatro Louletano addressing all those kids and adults who want to know, in a playful and interactive way, the captivating universe of sound and music the artist. The festival also suggests the enjoyment of the collective exhibition by Miguel Neto – an artist who has participated in several editions of Som Riscado – "In the Beginning was the Sound" – at the Center for Experimentation and Artistic Creation of Loulé ( CECAL), located in the Municipal Park.

With the Cine-Teatro Louletano and the Auditorium of Solar da Música Nova as epicenters, Som Riscado surrounds several spaces of the city of Loulé in its activities, as well as several institutional partners of the Municipality of Loulé and the region, namely: University of Algarve ( Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Center for Research in Arts and Communication (CIAC) and School of Education and Communication), Loulé Secondary School, Quarteira Secondary School, Escola EB2,3 / Secondary School Bemposta (Portimão) and ETIC_Algarve ( Faro).
