The Southern Classical Orchestra (OCS) and its participatory choir will open 2020 with the New Year Concert "From London to Venice" at Culturgest's large auditorium in Lisbon next Saturday, 4 January.
Created in January 2019, the Southern Classical Orchestra Choir was "a bold challenge that further energized the southern cultural landscape and proved to live up to the expectations set."
Coordinated by baritone Rui Baeta, this mixed choir has about 60 voices and allows the orchestra to diversify its repertoire.
«From London to Venice» is the New Year's Concert that will take place at Culturgest, marking the first joint performance of the South Choir and Classical Orchestra in the Portuguese capital.
Rui Pinheiro, head conductor of OCS, is responsible for the orchestral conduct of a concert which will be invited by Paulina Sá Machado (soprano) and Marta Magalhães (mezzo-soprano).
The show features Georg Haendel's "Aquatic Music – Suite # 2", Antonio Vivaldi's "Glory in D Major", and Joseph Haydn's "Symphony No. 104".
Tickets for the concert are priced at 15 euros (subject to discounts) and can be purchased at the Culturgest ticket office, online ticket office or booked at 217905155.
