Sparrow feels disrespected for not being able to go to the Downhill Worlds

He was European champion in 2018, the year in which he achieved the best result ever in a World Championship for Portugal (24th). It is the best Portuguese in the international elite ranking of downhill and the only one who will make the entire World Cup circuit in 2020. He was not invited to the World Cup that starts today in Austria.
Sparrow spares no criticism of the Portuguese Cycling Federation. “(…) I don't appreciate everything I have done and this is further proof of that! I booked everything in advance to be present in this race and I only got an answer on how I wasn't going less than 15 days before the race, which is ridiculous and a lack of respect for me ”, he adds.
At DIÁRIO AS BEIRAS the cyclist said that “it doesn't make any sense” to be left out. “In addition, we never knew what the parameters are for choosing the national team's pilots”, he adds.
The two elite male pilots chosen were the Lousanense Gonçalo Bandeira and Nuno Reis, respectively 1st and 3rd classified in this year's Downhill National. In 2nd was Francisco Pardal, "500 thousandths of the first in a track with just two minutes, very simple and with no option of trajectories". “I already knew that the title was going to be discussed to the thousandth. I am no longer used to such small tracks and yet I have adapted very well ”, says Francisco Pardal.
