The start of the 2nd League was postponed to September 13th, while the draw for the 1st and 2nd leagues of the 2020/2021 season went from 9th to 28th August, announced today the Portuguese Professional Football League (LPFP) .
“Following the communication sent by the Portuguese Football Federation last Friday, reporting the suspension of the identification of the two clubs in the Portuguese Championship (Vizela and Arouca) for participation in professional competitions, and also due to the fact that the process licensing of Cova da Piedade and Casa Pia is in progress, Liga Portugal is realizing that the start of competition, initially scheduled for August 22, will take place on September 13 ”, explains the LPFP.
In a short statement, the organization thus mentions that the start of competition for the 2nd League, initially scheduled for August 22, will take place on September 13, “the calendar is still awaiting the approval of the FPF”.
In view of these conditions, the entity that manages professional football in Portugal says that the draw, initially scheduled for August 9, "now has August 28 as its new date". There is still no date set for the start of the 1st League.
