StartUp Portimão continues to encourage entrepreneurship

The Portimão municipality highlights the «positive response to the challenge launched by the StarUp Portimão community of national entrepreneurs, in the sense of sending their projects to participate in the 1st Online Acceleration Bootcamp in the Algarve». Three dozen applications were received from across the country.

The reception deadline ended at 12 noon on April 17th, with 12 startups selected, most of them from Portimão and other regions of the Algarve: Cityguide (smart cities – tourism); Dotesfera (smart cities – tourism); Eat With Locals (smart cities – tourism); Eparkio (smart cities – mobility); Hortinha da Saúde e Bem Estar (health and wellness); Mavework (smart cities – governance); Meduse (smart cities – tourism); Perla Luxury Consultancy (marketing); Real Life Concierge (smart cities – tourism); TAB – The Algarve Bootcamp (education and training); Tails Projet ((smart cities – quality of life); and Tbuddy (smart cities – tourism).

The 1st Online Acceleration Bootcamp in the Algarve, which will be totally virtual, will take place today, April 21st and 22nd and May 4th and 5th, and “aims to reinvent and stimulate the entrepreneurial spirit in times of pandemic”, highlights the event's organization . It will feature moments of virtual networking and talks on current and useful topics for the development and acceleration of business, namely in terms of finance, marketing, approach to investors, risk mitigation, pitch training and challenges of Covid-19.

On the 21st and 22nd of April, the speakers will be entrepreneurs, investors and business consultants with proven experience, with a wide range of talks will be open to the general public, who can follow the sessions online.

The opening session of this 21st begins at 9:30 am, with the participation of Isilda Gomes, Mayor of Portimão, Luís Matos Martins, CEO of Territorios Criativos and Paulo Pinheiro, administrator of Parkalgar and CEO of Autódromo Internacional do Algarve. Half an hour later the “How to build a million" talk will begin. Those interested can follow this program through the link.

As for April 22, the talk “Startups scaling up and risk mitigation” is scheduled for 10 am, and an hour and a half later the talk “How to approach na investor?” Begins, both with Paulo Andrez, president of Toys' R'Us Iberia Holdings and President Emeritus of EBAN – European Business Association Network.

At 12:30 pm, the inspiring talk “The entrepreneurial track” was scheduled with André Abreu, CEO of Sensaway, a startup incubated at Startup Portimão, continuing the program from 2:00 pm, with the talk “Finances 4 Startups”, in which João Pereira will participate, professor at IPAM and Porto Business School. Finally, at 3:00 pm the talk “Marketing 4 Startups” starts", with Maria Loureiro de Lemos, CEO and co-founder of Eat.Drink.Discover.

The Portimão incubator currently has 13 startups, four more with virtual incubation, half of which have not suffered direct effects on its activity. The rest felt the impact of Covid-19, as they have a direct or indirect link to tourism.
