Last year, the state paid 473 million euros to private individuals for medical examinations and clinical analysis, the Público reported in Tuesday's edition. According to the information transmitted by the Central Administration of the Health System (ACSS), this is an increase of 5.3% compared to the previous year.
Clinical analyzes (176.4 million euros), radiology (107 million euros) and physical medicine and rehabilitation (100 million euros) were the areas that weighed the most on the bill.
"The increases registered accompany the growth of the healthcare activity that has been carried out in the National Health Service and are more significant in the area of gastroenterological endoscopy and physical medicine and rehabilitation," the ACSS reports.
The entity also states that this increase corresponds to "an increase in access to diagnosis and treatment of users with health needs more targeted to these areas."
