The Municipal Museum of Olhão – Edifício do Compromisso Marítimo marks the passage of its 20th anniversary with a street exhibition, entitled «20 Years of Museum», on Largo da Restauração.
The exhibition consists of several panels alluding to the museum's anniversary and the journey of this cultural equipment from Olhão over the past two decades.
The Municipal Museum works in the old building of the Maritime Commitment of Olhão, which started to be built about 250 years ago, with the purpose of protecting all “seaman and fisherman, of any luck, quality and condition that is so of all art navigation as well as fishing ”.
“Although under the influence of the pandemic, it is important to continue celebrating the heritage, the feeling of belonging, the authenticity of a community and its memory”, emphasizes the local authority.
The exhibition, open to the public in front of the museum, also celebrates the International Day for Monuments and Sites, which this year is dedicated to the theme «Complex pasts, diverse futures».
