Students and teachers from four European countries visited Algarve - Jornal diariOnline Southern Region


Forty students and twenty teachers from Portugal, Spain, Italy, Finland and Poland were gathered in the Algarve as part of the Erasmus + KA2 project C4 learning activity "Open your eyes and open your heart!".

The action, promoted by the EBI / JI José Carlos da Maia School, of the Paula Paula Nogueira School Group, from Olhão, took place between 23 and 27 September.

During this week, all participants developed activities related to the theme “Volunteering in the Environment”, in a program full of solidarity actions, such as support for food distribution in the Algarve Food Bank's Hunger warehouse and vegetable planting in Horta. Biological of the institution; garbage collection between the islands of Culatra and Farol; the delivery of toys and food; and assistance in maintaining the APAR Animal Shelter in Moncarapacho.

The students and teachers involved participated in other project activities, such as the walk in the 7 Hanging Valleys in Lagoa; the shell-collecting cruise to the islands of Armona, Culatra and Farol, with which they created pictures that they later took to their respective countries; a tour / game around the city of Olhão, using the «Actionbound» application; canopy tours in Albufeira Adventure Park and the shadow theater on the theme “Let's Protect Nature”, with pieces produced and presented by each of the countries involved.

“All students were housed in Olanense family homes, having had the opportunity to visit the beaches and other places of interest in the region and to try Algarve cuisine. As for the teachers, there was no shortage of positive praise for the local cuisine, the beauty of the beaches and the variety of solidarity actions that were part of the program ”, underlines the school establishment in Olhão.

The next and last learning activity of this project will take place next May in Alicante, Spain.
