More than 3,900 students and 110 teachers from 12 schools in the 1st cycle of the Algarve will participate in the 3rd edition of the Missão Continente School, learning more about healthy eating and conscious consumption.

The program, which will feature a total of 276 participating schools across the country, will address key issues in these areas, such as healthy diets, food waste or excessive plastic use, throughout the school year.

A commitment will be made to learning through didactic activities, distribution of play materials, study visits and challenges, which will encourage the school community to think and act on healthy eating and conscious consumption.

In the Algarve, more than 3,900 students and 110 teachers from 1st cycle schools enrolled in the Missão Continente School will receive a visit from an ambassador of the initiative for a thematic and interactive class and visit a Continente store in their city to discover their functioning and understand that healthy eating and a conscious consumption start soon in the purchases made in the supermarket.

Students from five schools in Faro, three in Lagoa, three in Portimão and one in Silves will be involved.

In addition, students and teachers will be put to the test through two challenges – "School Challenge" and "Class Challenge" -, in which they will have to put into practice, with imagination and creativity, the knowledge acquired on the themes of School Mission Continent.

In "Desafio Escola", students are challenged to reflect on the subject of plastics and to develop a multidisciplinary work, with the entire educational community, on the awareness of their excessive use.

The challenge is to "Make my community more sustainable: reduce the use of plastic!" And aims to promote learning about the conscious use, reduction, recycling and reuse of this material.
