The students of the Basic School 2.3 João de Deus, in São Bartolomeu de Messines, in the municipality of Silves, participated last Tuesday, 2, in an activity promoting the Olympic values - "excellence, friendship and respect".
The initiative, organized by the Physical Education teachers group, with the collaboration of teachers from other areas of study, was supported by the Olympic Education Program of the Portuguese Olympic Committee.
The students performed a set of non-competitive practical challenges to stimulate reflection on Olympic educational themes – pleasure in effort, fair play, respect for others, striving for excellence and balance between body, will and mind.
Students in grades 5 to 7 were grouped, mixing years and classes, with the aim of cooperating, communicating and finding the best ways to be successful in the various challenges that were posed to them.
"The EB 2.3 João de Deus School is to be congratulated for the organization of this initiative that has allowed to promote Olympism and the taste for sports," said the Portuguese Olympic Committee.
