The Assistant Secretary of State and Economy, João Neves, said that the government will extend the endowment of the Apoiar program by 150 million euros for companies with billing losses related to the fourth quarter of 2020.
The objective is "to be able to reach the largest number of companies" as has been done in the first phase of the Apoiar program, the Secretary of State said in statements to the Lusa agency, adding that the program's allocation could be adjusted "according to the circumstances. ”.
The Apoiar program consists of non-repayable support for micro and small companies in the sectors most affected by the crisis, such as commerce, culture, accommodation and tourist activities and catering, covering those that had a turnover drop of more than 25% in the first nine months of this year.
The program started with 750 million euros in support until the end of September, then increased to 900 million euros.
New applications for the reinforced amount may be made in the middle of January, after the necessary ordinances have been published.
The government has already received 39,000 applications in less than a month and has made about 105 million euros in payments.
