With the Algarve having these comparative values in relation to the generality of competition, we have to know how to take advantage of this positioning that the region has in relation to third parties, and we must do it as soon as possible through a good communication strategy and the development of the so-called economic diplomacy. … ”
Asked if the communication should also be applied inland, to our country, the president of AHETA was perentiary is to say that “Naturally, yes, the Algarve is the largest Portuguese tourist region, it is not only the largest, it is the most important, and therefore it makes sense that all measures or actions that may be taken or approved, take into account the region because the Tourism is a strategic sector for the country's economy, so it is the public interest that is at stake. Supporting the Algarve means supporting the public interest and the national interest… ”
Regarding the measures taken regarding the use of the beaches, Elidérico Viegas reflected that “We have to be able to do two things…” realizing that “… the region must be looked at differently and supported differently, not because we want to be different or better than the rest of the country, but because that is the interest of the own country ”.
