The “Balsa – In Search of the Origins of the Algarve” training action will take place on January 20th and 27th, from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm, at the Ciência Viva de Tavira Center.
The initiative is part of the project of the same name, whose main objective is to “study the archaeological potential of what remains of this ancient Roman city”.
This project, funded by the CRESC Algarve 2020 Operational Program, is the responsibility of researcher João Pedro Bernardes, from the University of Algarve, in partnership with the Centro Ciência Viva de Tavira, the municipality of Tavira and the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve.
On the 20th, the themes "Ria Formosa: biodiversity, environment and landscape", "Tavira before Ferry" and "Ferry, Roman city" will be addressed.
Already on the 27th, the themes “From the end of the ferry to the rebirth of Tavira” and “Islamic and Medieval Tavira” are discussed, before a “Visit to historical-archaeological Tavira”.
The action, whose trainers are João Bernardes (UAlg), Celso Candeias (Câmara de Tavira), Luís Oliveira (UAlg), João Afonso (CCVT) and Ana Ramos (CCVT), are aimed at cultural agents, municipal technicians, professionals. tourism and the general public.
