Tavira will have a Strategic Tourism Development and Marketing Plan


The Municipality of Tavira signed a contract with the University of Algarve for the elaboration of the Strategic Tourism Development and Marketing Plan (PEDTM) for the municipality.

This is an initiative within the scope of the application «Tavira with the Mediterranean Diet – A sustainable tourist destination» to the Valorizar Program – Support line to the sustainability of Turismo de Portugal, with a maximum financing of 80%.

The development of the project, awarded for the amount of 41,357.39 euros, plus VAT, has the expected duration of 12 months and should have as premises the sustainability and competitiveness of the territory.

“PEDTM is a fundamental document in the implementation of policies and actions for the increase and promotion of this sector in the municipality”, emphasizes the Tavira municipality.

The document should define lines of action for the five-year time horizon (from its completion date), based on “the analysis of the territory, the tourist offer, the Mediterranean Diet, the profile, the expectations, the motivations of the visitors and the local trade, thus reinforcing Tavira's identity ”.
