Teachers make ultimatum to the Government and threaten to block school year – The Economic Journal

"We asked the President not to promulgate." Teachers want presidential veto of legislation on time of service - The Economic Journal

The teachers' unions threatened today to "block the normal development of the school year" if the government did not open negotiations on the recovery of the frozen service time, but not only, until the end of January.

At a press conference in Lisbon this afternoon, after meeting with the government this morning – which closed negotiations with teachers – the unions united in platform left one last to the Ministry of Education (ME), saying that it is up to the executive to "choose what he wants to do" and that if negotiations are not reopened during January, there will be consequences for the "normal development of the school year."

Speaking on behalf of the platform, the secretary general of the National Federation of Teachers (Fenprof), Mário Nogueira, said that the measures may block the school year and are already being discussed by the unions, which are collecting suggestions from teachers, but declined to specify: "It is premature to say [o que pode ser feito]".
